This edition by Darío Alva and Diego V Navarro responds to both artists’ interest in the sports imaginary, in particular the iconography and mythology linked to football. Behind the hegemonic narrative of this sport lies a series of socio-cultural narratives inspired by the national and European heraldic tradition, which are recovered by the artists to reflect on the political conditions of sport and its mystical dimensions. The symbols and patterns present in the scarf recreate the role of these creatures and icons in shaping a virtually universal imagery, a series of cultural traces that have transformed or lost their original function.
